Welcome to ‘Dancing Between Worlds’!
I’m Kathy. Welcome to my magical world, where Mother Earth, the Mystery, and my dreams are my muses. Living in a mile-high mountain forest, I’m often in Nature singing to the trees, plants, birds, animals, rocks, and land… remembering and channeling their medicine songs, wisdom, and healing messages. At the same time, my spirit animals and guides frequent my night dreams, which are transformational for my personal evolution, as well as for the collective.
Art is one of my most powerful spiritual practices. I honor my mystical, numinous dreams and shamanic journeys, the messengers and the messages, by creating sacred art.
Everything I do is sacred creativity—intuitive paintings, collages, music, and poems—precious gifts harvested from the liminal zone. There’s a flow from my shimmering dream state and illuminated shamanic journeys, into waking life. It's not so much that I have a foot in both worlds, as I feel there exists no boundary between them. Everything flows from one into the other.
From this energy of curiosity, wonder, and awe, Spirit speaks, inspiration is channeled, synchronicities happen, magical moments alchemize, and I deeply listen, embodying the glimmer of sacred creativity—a jewel that is within us all, inviting us to play!
Let’s remember, we’re all creative beings in a Universe that is infinitely creating. Connection with our creative birthright is only a breath away. In every moment we have a choice: to tap into the flow of creativity with our hearts open and expanding... or decline the gift. Why not choose to embody the radiant treasure, by integrating and anchoring creativity into an empowering daily practice.
My sacred art creations honoring my dreams become bridges between ordinary reality and the imaginal realm. As the prophecies of numerous indigenous cultures worldwide tell us, this is a highly challenging time of transformation on Earth. My hope is that my paintings, collages, and photographs inspire you to return inward, deeply listen to your own heart’s wisdom, become receptive to intuition and inspiration, and find your personal path to peace, harmony, joy, love, creativity, and healing.
Solstice Tree of Dreams
We are made of stardust. The Solstice Dream Tree too is made of stardust, and like all trees, spins starlight as Earth turns. Within the dream tree we see numerous delightfully unique galaxies, each one full of infinite possibilities, and the Milky Way ~ with Orion’s Belt and the Pleiades figuring prominently ~ coursing through the tree. I began this painting in 2016, but a disastrous disc rupture left me bedridden for 5 years, and this painting unfinished on my easel… until recently. 22” x 28” acrylic on canvas
Polar Bear Dreams the Moon
Bear appears in my dreams often… her energy is healing, strong, and protective. Full of ferns and Orion’s Belt, she gazes at the numinous moon and dreams a new world. 12” x 12” acrylic on cradled panel
Adelina & the Golden Eagle
Adelina Alva Padilla, spiritual leader of the Chumash Tribe, was one of my first shamanic teachers. Shortly after she transitioned in 2023, I had a powerful dream of her, a Golden Eagle (which shortly after that flew over our home in waking life), potent Datura blossoms that grow in my garden, a Turtle Ocarina, and a goddess presenting me with the stars of Orion’s Belt on a platter. It was a joy to honor her and the dream in this painting, as it continues to reveal deep meaning to me. 14”x 18” acrylic on cradled panel
Ukumari: Polar Bear Carries Neptune Across the Sky
Polar Bears often appear in my dreams, too, and Neptune appears prominently and powerfully in my astrological chart, so I honored them both in this collage. 9” x 12” Collage on cradled panel
Wolf Sings Between the Worlds
I have many, many mystical, magical Wolf dreams. In this painting, a Wolf with blue fur and feathers adorned with stars bestowed my name “Catcher of Songs : Weaver of Light.” I honored the dream with this painting of Wolf singing Swallows, lovely birds which, in waking life, nest in our attic and also fuel my dreams. This painting technique suggests an ineffable “between the worlds” feeling. What’s more, the plants and animals within the images underscore that everything is one with Nature; Wolf is composed of ferns, feathers, and stars. Upon hearing several of my Wolf dreams, Siberian Shaman Ahamkara shared with me that I’m a pioneer in the new energy of these times, the 1,300 year Wolf Time cycle (begun in 2012, like the Mayan calendar and Hopi prophecies). Grandmother Dreams the World
With her dreams and intentions, Grandmother creates her world, as above, so below… as within, so without. She appeared when I was journeying to the ancestral river. I felt a strong urge to paint her, and one day I was simply pushing watercolors around on paper when she literally emerged from the waters and her profile took form. 5.5” x 5.5” watercolor on paper
Three Jaguars
I have many spirit animal guides, and when Jaguars first appeared to me years ago, they spoke their names: Luna, who is intuition; Chaska (Star), guidance; and Lilith, my protector. This colorful collage honors their steadfast presence in my life over the years. In Quechua, Otorongo protects sacred nature. 12” x 12” collage on cradled panel
Amaru Dances Between the Worlds
Serpent spirit animal is a symbol of transformation, awakening of consciousness, ascension energy, and sacred, powerful wisdom. Amaru is the Quechua word for sacred Serpent. 10” x 30” acrylic on canvas
Drum Priestess
This painting honors the ancient lineage of women frame drummers, to which I joyfully belong. 8” x 24” acrylic on canvas
Dragons of the Inner House of Creativity
This was a magnificent dream! From the glowing, illuminated inner house, each of the Dragons of powerful transformation brought me paintings, poems, and music. Of this dream, one of my teachers, Puma Freddy Quispe Singona shared: “Your dream is about your evolution, the alchemy of your life. You have reached a level of awakening, accessing your superior self, superior consciousness. You are a powerful dragon. You have completely mastered your way of being in connection with your Divine origins. And it becomes a reality, it becomes a knowledge, a wisdom of living at that level… you become that powerful consciousness. As you see all the dragons coming to you it is a reflection of both your healing work, sound healing, and your personal awakening and evolution as a healer. You are the epitome of knowledge and wisdom. You’ve achieved Mastery in your personal healing work, sound healing, and healing the collective. You have reached the Mastery state.” 12” x 12” collage on cradled panel
Solstice Reindeer Carries Sun Across the Sky
When I was a child looking out our upstairs window at the woods in the moonlight, I was in awe to see over 100 deer nestled for the night in our backyard bed of ferns. It was enchanting. Ever since, Deer has been a spirit animal, visiting my dreams, as well as my waking life. This painting honors the Solstice Deer, which I sketched many years ago. It was inspired by the people of the far North who herded reindeer and honored them by carving standing stones on the steppes of Reindeer flying to the sky, carrying Sun, bringer of life, in their antlers. Although I drew the original image years ago, the painting was finally birthed over Winter Solstice 2024. 12” x 24” acrylic on cradled panel
Caterpillar Dreams MetaMORPHOsis
Many times in my life I’ve felt like I have been in the gooey soup of the caterpillar’s chrysalis, awaiting the time when wings will unfurl and I can at long last take flight. Blue Morpho butterflies have graced my dreams on occasion, and the image of Caterpillar dreaming them became a powerful metaphor for our journeys of personal transformation. This painting was birthed on the Winter Solstice 2024. 10” x 30” acrylic on canvas
Portal of the Horse
In a powerful dream of initiation and rebirth, I’m riding a horse, galloping fast toward another horse—more than twice the size of mine and standing across our path, like a living archway. I hunker down and urge my horse forward and we speed under the giant horse’s belly. I sense the danger, recognizing the other horse could have reared, bolted, kicked, or otherwise injured us as we passed. My horse slows to a stop on the other side of the portal, where we’re greeted by a sunny, bright meadow, alive with possibilities. This dream represents the initiations we go through in life, which invite us to take a risk, summon our confidence and courage, and embody our wild free spirit. Only then are we reborn into a new life, which offers more joy, peace, and freedom. 14” x 18” acrylic on cradled panel
T’ikary Venus Rose
T’ikary is a Quechua word which means the blooming of the flower within. This painting celebrates Pachamama’s blossoming and reminds us of a beautiful truth an Andean shamanism teacher’s mother wisely shared, “You are either blooming or preparing to bloom.” The blossoming goddess’s body also resembles the Northern Cross Constellation, Cygnus the Swan. At the same time, she reminds us of the Venus Star Point “Rose” which occurs March 23, 2025 when the Sun and Venus align. 12” x 24” acrylic on cradled panel
Jaguar & the Pool of Stars
I’ve had many dreams of specific stars and magical animals, including Jaguar and Hummingbird. In Andean shamanism, Jaguar (Otorongo in Qero) symbolizes the guardian of sacred nature and the wild mysterious self. Hummingbird (Q’ente) embodies joy, and reminds us to experience the sweet nectar of life. In a recent dream, Hummingbird appeared with polka dots on her wings and body, which then transformed into stars in a dark night sky. In other recent dreams, Orion’s Belt, Cygnus, Pegasus, the Dipper, and other stars appear. I honored them all in this enchanting painting, where they grace the pool of stars and hummingbird, windows to the Universe within. I later learned these same constellations were most influential at the time of my birth! How cool is that?! 14” x 18” acrylic & oil on cradled panel
Messengers of the Spirit World
Since ancient times, birds have been considered the messengers of the Spirit World. Watching them soaring skyward, it’s easy to imagine that. These two spirit birds dance with Moon and whisper our dreams and prayers to the heavens. 12” x 12” acrylic on cradled panel
Raven Carries Wishes on Wings
Ravens and Wolves have such a special symbiotic relationship, with Raven playing scout, leading Wolves on the journey to find prey. In this colorful portrayal of their friendship with each other and Grandmother Moon, Raven takes flight, carrying wishes on wings. 14” x 18” acrylic on cradled panel
